Drew Tewksbury is a Los Angeles-based multimedia journalist and editor, who wages a no-holds barred war against the boring. Whether he’s writing music, film, and art criticism, or producing interviews for National Public Radio, Drew strives to dredge up stories from the underground and make the pertinent interesting.Drew’s work spans all media. He has written over 400 daily blog posts for L.A. Weekly’s music blog West Coast Sound, curated Filter Magazine’s film section with director interviews including Mark Romanek, Noah Baumbach, and Sofia Coppola, and reviewed films on air for Current TV’s Rotten Tomatoes show. He appears every other Tuesday at 9:50 am PST on The Madeleine Brand Show on KPCC public radio at 89.3 FM in Los Angeles for “New Music Tuesday.”

As a digital media and live-show producer for National Public Radio’s show News & Notes, Drew produced pieces ranging from online features with guerrilla artist and graphic design guru Shepard Fairey to an interview with Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai just days before he was incarcerated.

Drew also worked the celebrity beat for People Magazine’s London bureau while studying in England on a Kruglak International Scholarship. There he met with Prince William, chatted with Cameron Diaz and watched Ozzy Osbourne get lost on the red carpet.Formerly, as the senior writer/contributing editor of Flaunt Magazine, he helped shape the direction of the magazine by writing diverse features on sweatshop labor, celebrity rehabs, and underground Los Angeles culture while also curating the magazine’s music criticism section.

Drew’s other writing and photographs have been featured in People, L.A. Times, Red Bulletin (U.K.),  Style in Progress (Austria), Metromix, L.A. Weekly, URB, Swindle, FLAUNT, Artist Direct, L.A. Alternative, District Weekly, L.A. Record, and the Penny Ante Anthology. He has a Masters of Journalism from the Annenberg School for Communications at the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Writing from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

He also is a member of the American Bigfoot Society.
